Bio:
Lina was born and raised in Kaunas, Lithuania. She started playing tennis at 8 years old, and represented the Lithuanian Women’s National Tennis team at Fed Cup in 2011. Lina was a full scholarship athlete at the University of Texas at Austin, where she was named the Big XII Freshman of the Year, led their team to two Big XII Conference titles, and received her undergraduate degree in Exercise Science with highest honors. She was able to secure the Big XII and NCAA Postgraduate scholarships and pursued her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at Texas State University. Lina has always been passionate about teaching others and tutored students in subjects of kinesiology, anatomy, biology, and math during her college years. Lina enjoyed working as a physical therapist while helping people maximize their healing potential.
How did she find out about pickleball? Lina used to play table tennis every Sunday with her friend Curtis, who invited her to play pickleball when the table tennis club shut down during the early onset of COVID and her pregnancy. She was then spotted by Christina Dorman at the South Austin Rec Center hitting a powerful overhead and began training with them 2 months after delivering her son. Lina began competing at 5.0 19+ level in April of 2021, when she won Midsouth Regionals in women’s singles and doubles, which qualified her for USA Pickleball Nationals in December of 2021. Lina started competing on the pro tour in Spring of 2022 and since then has secured 6 pro medals and reached 2 semi-finals of Major League Pickleball.
Lina is a passionate player, coach and a caring mother of her 2-year old son Ąžuolas.
